Its that Artsy time of year!

The Barefoot Doula

It is that time again. It seems like every Christmas time I get inspiration. So I am going to share my New Years Resolution with you. I am going to try and harness my creativity to do something art related everyday. Now if I actually post it the same day is a different story. But that is my resolution.  So here are a few pieces I have started and completed the last 3 days. I have actually been spending alot of time over at DeviantART getting inspiration. My account over there is http://www.the-pom.deviantart.com

Yoni Art

So the creative juices stopped flowing for a while there. I think they may be back since I have a new focal point. I am going through Birth Doula training right now. The course I am taking is through Birth Arts International. I have a new found love of what a woman's body can do. So to start off my new creative love I give you my first Yoni pendant. This Yoni is represents the beauty of birth and how it can be interpreted into nature. I did a search for Yoni pendants on etsy last night. The one thing I did not want was to have it be too obvious what the heck it was. A lot of the pendants online were just that, obvious. So this is my first take on it. I have a few other ideas for expressing my love of the woman's body during the child-bearing years. Some of which include a cesarean and pregnant belly art. All I need for this pendant is some type of cable or leather. I might have to talk to Tena
about using some of hers.

I am sure I will come up with some type of breastfeeding, and water-birth, and a whole mess of things. I really like working with polymer clay and all I can say is I don't know what I will do if the world ever stops making it.

I just don't understand.

I don't get why anyone would want to suck an egg. I don't get the reasoning behind the saying, "go suck an egg". I blew some eggs this morning and I thought that was pretty gross. So I just don't get it.

I think I am going to combine polymer and paper mache. I miss making my faces out of polymer. So I just need to find a way to do this now. It shouldn't be that hard. As long as I bake the faces and hands and feet before I put the paper mache on. We will see how this goes. But first I have to finish my balancing chick act. I need at least 2 pieces for Easter. i just hope someone bites and buys them. I need to be working my butt off to make a payment of $315 a month. If I could finish some of the art dolls I have started like the old woman or something. I have also started some witches. But I just don't think I could charge as much as a really good art doll is worth. I don't know. Oh well we will see what happens. Once I finish my Balancing Chick I will get started on some others. Oy.

It's Official!

My easter bunny was featured on UltimatePaperMache.com. Which I think I should say is pretty neat. I have never been featured before. I am now also a member of Magical Holiday Artist Etsy Group. I hope I can get the exposure I need to pay off $20,000 dollars of debt I have I almost wish I had a few more years to pay it off. But I only have 2, YIKES. I don't want to leave my little boy to go to work.

Oh yeah so I posted it on the sidebar but I have an Etsy now. I am super excited. The link is www.smariecarlson.etsy.com. I am planning on adding at least one item a week. But since it is Easter time I am going to try and get a variety of items up for sale. So if there is anything you want feel free to buy it. Or if you want something custom feel free as well. I don't have much up but just some odds and ends I have been putzing with.

Well, I am off to visit my favorite blogs, then pull the turkey out of the oven and enjoy.

I also have another blog. Our homesteading blog. www.enchantedfamiliarfarm.blogspot.com eventually I will have a link on the sidebar.

Hi There!

Like it says, Howdy! I am S. Marie Carlson. I am an artist of many talents not limited to but including: Portrait Painting, OOAK Art Doll Crafting, Miniature Sculpting, Illustrator/Author, Glass etching artisan, soap maker, and I offer Birth and Postpartum Doula Services to the Menomonie/Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls/Glenwood City and surrounding areas in Wisconsin. I have a full plate. Including raising a 3 year old boy, renovating a barn to turn it into a home, and striving to become self-sufficient. It is a busy life around here for me. I am a stay at home mom, and will be unschooling our son. Actually we have already started that part of it. I have been learning many new talents that I have. I hope I can show off their best qualities on this site. I will have a shop available sooner or later. I just have to get everything figured out. So this site is officially marked UNDER CONSTRUCTION!
