Review Thursday- Wilton Candy Melts.

Well, I won a giveaway about a week ago. It was for a whole mess of Wilton Halloween kits. I figured it would be the best time to review a part of it. So I chose their candy melts. I think for someone who is concerned about the health of her children this is a good product for that purpose. Yes I know a diet rich in chocolate is not the best thing for a kid. But some chocolate is better than others. The first thing I did was give the ingredients list a look. My eyes were huge. There were way too many ingredients that I could not pronounce in that list for my liking. But in good product reviewer spirit I continued to make the kit. Yes, my son and I enjoyed doing the project together. But the after effects of that many chemicals in our system at once was repulsive. For a piece of candy to be made out of that many ingredients and chemicals it was enough to send my four year old into a hyper active sugar rush that he is still recovering from. Now, I am not one to say that sugar is bad for you, we all know it. However, I am a strong believer in the fact that alternative sweeteners, like Splenda or High Fructose Corn Syrup are far worse for you than regular  sugar.

One good thing that I found with the Wilton line of candy melts was there was no High Fructose Corn Syrup. However I did not enjoy the flavor. It tasted very fake. So for my candy making activities we will more than likely celebrate with a natural and organic chocolate.

Now don't get me wrong, I do still love Wilton and their lines of cookie cutters and decorating things. Just not the actual "food" items. I still like their sprinkles, since there is not nearly as much consumption of them.

Hope this does not turn anyone away from the Wilton products, this is just a review from a "crunchy" mom, looking for "crunchy" food and no offense but Wilton is no where near "crunchy".

I am in no way affiliated with Wilton.
