Our first adventure with a swap meet.

We rose to the sound of an alarm today. Even before the roosters let us know it was time for the sun to come up. Once in the truck we made our way to a farm about 45 minutes away. As we approached the farm we saw cars lined up the driveway. My husband and I looked at each other and then looked at our 3 little rabbits in the back of the truck. We were out of our league. Then we drove down the grassy isle, cars on both sides almost spilling with animals, and realized, there are a lot of rabbits here. We kept driving until we found a spot that was suitable for us to park. (meaning we can't park on a hill, no parking break) We got out and looked around a bit and realized almost every body has RABBITS... ugh this was a little frustrating, but we got over it. My husband ended up finding a mated pair of Sussex ducks, and a flock of Khaki Campbell ducks. I found Americauna hens, and Black copper marans, YAY! We are going to have a rainbow in our egg cartons now. :) Well, actually not now but in the near future, they are little pullets.

And then if they are still available we may be making an 8 hour trip tonight to get some Russian Boar aka Eurasian Swine. They are the original heritage breed of pig.

They look mean, but I have seen pictures of these hogs that are so loving and so gentle. It is awesome. Hopefully I will be able to post some pictures of our new livestock. :D
