with a chick chick here and a....

So we got home from church today went inside and changed clothes, FarmerMan wanted to go into the the garden and weed for a while. Pip(short for pip squeak) was over by the light post. I heard a lot of chirping going on.  Pip was standing there holding a baby chick that could not have been more than half a day old. WOW! HOW AMAZING! We have been getting really depressed on the homesteading life. We planted a garden, okay that was a given, just mostly because the prophet has told us to do so. We raise rabbits okay yeah... We raise chickens but haven't kept up on the egg collection, and since our chickens are 100% free-range one hen decided to keep a few. We are the proud homesteaders of 4 baby chicks. From the look of it we have 3 hens and a rooster. But we aren't going to count our layers until they prove it. I forgot how much I love this work of a farmer. It is hard but the reward is great! I hope we can continue the strive for self sufficiency and enjoy doing it.

  1. Congratulations! What a great sign that your homesteading is worth it! Do not get discouraged...it IS worth it. Will be looking forward to hearing about the progress of your little additions.
