Review Thursday- The Diva Cup

Hey everybody!!! Today's review is on a product that may be a bit "controversial" or "taboo". Today's Review is on The Diva Cup.

Before I start I would like to share a personal story that may make anyone who knows stand back for a while, but this story is the main reason why I decided to switch to a menstrual cup.

Early March 2007 about 3 months after having my son, I was told to go on birth control by my midwife. I got the Depo-Provera shot once and did not realize I had messed up my monthly cycle so bad. I did my research late but I did it and did not go in for my next appointment of the shot again. It took me until February of 2008 to regain having a period. And once I did, It did not go away. I pretty much constant from February 2008-October 2011. There was maybe a week here and a week there when I did not have my period. Did you know that the average woman will go through 16,800 pads or tampons in her lifetime.  I feel as if I went through (or would have went through) that many in those 3 and a half years.

December 2009, I had had enough. I asked my cousin (might as well be sister) for a Diva Cup for Christmas. She was very skeptical, and had fun teasing me about it. Little did I know that she had actually purchased one for herself as well.  We spent the past 2 years using "The Cup" as we call it almost "religiously".  This was the best gift I could ever ask for. No more worrying of leaking and no problems with pads bunching and tugging things that never should be tugged.

In the beginning it was a little awkward, but I got used to it very quickly. I really do not have any complaints about the Diva Cup. They come in two sizes. One for before childbirth (size one), and one for after (size two). After two years of almost constant use my Diva cup is finally starting to show some wear-and-tear. But for you normal menstruating folks I can promise if you take care of it your Diva Cup will last a long long time.
