More Etsy postings. :D

I stayed up late last night, I didn't have the urge to illustrate so I spent the time working on miniature deserts for the next upcoming holiday, Saint Patrick's Day. I had a lot of fun with this especially since a very special member of the Greenleaf Dollhouse forum sent me a box full of miniatures for free. The table you see in the display is one of them. How generous is that?

Here is my favorite picture of the lot.

Everything should be up on Etsy by tomorrow night.

I am kind of proud to say I made EVERYTHING you see here minus the table and the penny.
That pennant banner was a pain. Look at the size!

Here are a few close up shots.

A Vow to Pinterest

Have you ever found something that you knew was going to be an ultimate time waster right from the beginning.  This so happens to be the case with me and.......
I was bad and ended up using that fancy little button they let you put up in chrome that lets you pin anything you want.  Here is where the vow comes in. I heard about it from fellow blogger (and my high school art teacher :)...) Chris Rambo of Passion & Pursenality  It is a vow not to just browse on Pinterest, you have to actually do something with the things you pin. So anyway I started a board for organizing my craft space. In case you don't know I have a huge organization problem. It never happens. However, I have been slowly getting better since I got a solid oak teachers desk from the Building Hope (recycled building supplies and furniture) store. I am in love. I had to get it because of the shear mass of the Wacom Cintiq 24HD. I don't know where I would have even put this thing if I didn't get this desk. So the desk started my spark for organization. I mean how can you not organize when you actually have drawers to organize things into. Score!  So my husband built me a shelf to put some of the random craft things up on.

This is my main inspiration. I just need to stock up on spice racks. Looks like a trip to goodwill is in order.

I have decided not to paint mine, I like the look of the wood. But one day maybe when I am living in a barn I may paint them. :)

Hopefully I can find some more spice racks for my craft paints. But for now I just have my Martha Stewart MicroBeads in. I may actually need to make a tine attachment shelf for 3 more jars of MicroBeads that did not fit on the shelf.

Once I had most of my micro-beads up and out of the way I had to create something with them. It may not have been the right color choices but I ended up making a miniature dinner. (sorry about the lighting)

I am planning on adding something else to the plate, I don't know if it will be asparagus or lime slices. Anyway, I love the microbeads, and cannot wait to create some miniature cakes, cookies, and treats using the microbeads.

In fact I love microbeads so much I think I may just do a product review and a Giveaway on them. **wink**

Stay tuned for Tomorrow's post for details on how to enter.

Have a good evening. :)

ketchup...

I have been gone for so long... well, I was still here just not. The craft show on the 8th of May was a flop. I think I really need to get working so there is enough product for the customers. I also need to pick a product and have it be the center of my focus. I am really liking the miniature life. I am learning new ways of making dolls and I hope I can keep up the flow. I just don't think there are many people interested in miniatures around here.  I have taken a break from any crafts what so ever since the show. It totally wore me out trying to finish that doll house. I didn't even take any pictures I was so busy. I didn't even finish it completely.

I guess I did work on some crafts. I started building the Orchid. I am turning it into Santa's workshop. Santa and a few elves will be  there. I don't think I am going to be worrying about posing ability. There is another show in November. I think that one does better just because it is closer to Christmas. I saw a display over at The Giddy Kimper and Bella Bell Dolls I love the way they displayed their dolls.  I think I want to do that.. Granted I need that many dolls to display.

Oh and little miss Rogue-alina (my cat) is pregnant. She finally came in while I wrote this, her belly still swollen with kitties. I was worried she had not been in the house for the past 2 days so I got worried she was going to have them out side. Hopefully we can get her to stay in. We left the window open upstairs so maybe she would come in and she finally did. When I saw her come back in I quickly ran up stairs and shut it. Maybe we can fix up a place in our room so she has them there. Yeah right....

{Tutorial} Tiling a Dollhouse floor

So we built some stairs lastnight. I am very proud of them the top step actually is flush with the upper floor. How exciting!

So some people from the Greenleaf Forum wanted a Tutorial on how I did the floor at the Blue Cat Mercantile. I have a small section to do with the bathroom.  But here is the tut on here.

First you have to paint your surface with the color "grout you want" as you can see I needed to add another coat but I didn't.

Next I use Elmer's glue all but any glue that will bond your tiles to the surface will work. I use card stock tiles.
I cut them out they are equal to 12 in tiles. So they are an inch each.

Just add some glue and place a tile down, Just hold it in place for a few seconds so they don't move. Make sure to trim the tiles so they fit properly.

Tadah we have a floor.

Now use your grout color and paint between the tiles.

Then we add some triple thick to the tiles it makes them nice and shiny. If you want you can emboss the grout lines with an embossing tool.
Here is the finished product.
I should note you need to make sure not to get glue on your fingers and then touch the tile or it will show up.

Oh and guess what came today.

Thanks MOM!!!
